INDIA DAY SEPT. 6TH 2008:
," On Saturday September 6, 2008, Association of Indians in America
(Wisconsin Chapter) presented its annual India Day at the
University of Madison-Library Mall along State Street, primarily to celebrate India's
independence day and share India's culture through music, food, arts and crafts, with the
Madison-area community. Youth as young as three years old performed dances and songs, and
played musical instruments. From traditional to modern, performers, including members of
Indian Graduate Students Association (UW-Madison), and their audience with wonderful
numbers that showed their deep connection to and love for, their India roots. Several
information booths, including Combat Blindness Foundation headed by Dr. Suresh Chandra
(UW Dept. of Ophthalmology), were present to inform attendees about their respective
organizations and what they do to support the needy in India and in various third-world
countries."

MOTHERS DAY 2008:
The AIA of Madison celebrated Mother’s Day with great enthusiasm on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at the Verona Middle School, Verona. Hundreds of children accompanied by their parents attended the program. In the program all mothers were provided free food and a cultural program performed by their children.
The program started with delicious Indian food. About 250 parents and children attended the program. After the dinner program cultural coordinator Vinay Dhodda welcomed all guests, children, parents, and volunteers as they gathered to celebrate Mother’s Day. The cultural program began with an invocation dance adoring Lord Ganesha. The performer was Dhanya Nagasundaram visiting from India. The second performance was from Sunil Sunkara, performed on Rang De Basanthi. A solo dance was performed by 11 year old Kaamya Parthasarathy. A group dance performed by Bani Oberoi, Kamya Chakravarthi, Renee Rech, Rohan Yathiraj, Sanjay, Mathur, Sanil Partha, Sanjay, Suresh and Vidisha choreographed by Aruna & Sowmya. Those performances were beautiful and well choreographed and they drew the attention of all attendees.
On the occasion of Mother’s Day, Rasika Ramanathan from the Kalaanjali School of Dance performed an admiration dance for the Goddess Mother.
A group of 12 young kids did Dandiya style dance in a group which was very entertaining for the parents to watch their children performing on Mother’s Day.
Madison Dance Dhamaka II group performed a beautiful dance from the movie Jhoom barabar Jhoom.
